What do we do? We are a grassroots organization dedicated to helping to lower the hospital incidence rate of hospital or health care professional accquired infections. see More. What is the problem? 1 out of 20 people who stay in hospital accquire hospital infections. Approx. 103,000 individuals die each year due to infections acquired at hospitals. Our Pledge to you There is a lot of mis-information on the internet. We pledge that we will quote our source for every fact or quoted opinion found on this website. Should you find an unsupported fact, please don't hesitate to contact us. We only want to quote verifiable data. What we know We know that Hospitals are aware of the problem. We know that hospitals hire consultants and hang posters and provide employee training to help lower hospital acquired infection rates. And, we know that in the U.S. averages 48% handwashing compliance. see more What can you do? There are two important things that you, as a patient can do: 1) Learn about and practice patient safety. 2) Encourage health care professionls to 'clean their hands'. This is where we come in. Our lovely daughter, Brenna Lee Lawrence, died because of a hospital strain of Methosillian Resistant Staphcoccis Aureus (MRSA). We observed many health care professionals that said something like "Oh well, infection is everywhere and there is nothing we can do about it? and "Hospitals are dangerous places and there is nothing that can be done about that". WE DO NOT ACCEPT THESE EXCUSES FOR POOR HAND HYGENE. see more |
